Starting our day off in prayer gives us the ability to commune with God, before the distractions of the day comes our way. It refuels us and provides encouragement to navigate what may lie ahead. As followers of Christ, we endeavor to be like him.

1. When you need a reminder that you are not alone pray Psalms 23

The world is filled with a lot of fear and anxiety. I like Psalms 91 as it reminds me that I am not alone, God’s presence is there with me guiding me through whatever situation I might be facing. A lovely morning prayer to start the day.

“Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 5. When you are struggling with sin, pray Psalms 51:1-2
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Whether you feel intimidated by prayer, or just simply feel like you are praying and it’s falling on deaf ears, Sheila will change your perspective on the concept of prayer. Through her book, the author reminds us that we don’t need to get the words just right, instead we should just start talking, God is listening.
There weren’t any earth shattering secrets on how to pray when you don’t know what to say. However, the author did share several helpful tips on how to pray such as praying scripture particularly the Psalms which you can learn about in her book Praying Woman. A helpful tip for those that find their prayers repetitive or struggle with what to say.
For me, this book wasn’t big on strategies but was super helpful in breaking down the mindset shift that often hold us back from praying and ultimately praying with confidence.The biggest myth of them all, “I can’t pray”. Instead of looking for perfect words, the author reminds us to come to God just as we are, God isn’t looking for perfect people. The enemy will do whatever he can to hinder us and hold us back from praying.
