Want a Closer Walk with God in 2025? Here’s My Faith Plan

As the new year approaches, I’ve been reflecting on how I want to grow in my relationship with God in 2025. Each year brings opportunities to reset, refocus, and realign our hearts with God’s purpose for our lives.

This upcoming year, I want to be particularly intentional about how I spend my time in God’s Word. With a busy life that includes family, work, and ministry, it’s easy for my time with God to get pushed aside, but this year I’m committed to prioritizing my relationship with God.

Reading Through the Bible Chronologically with The Bible Recap

For 2025, I will once again be reading the Bible through in a year. I will be reading through the Bible chronologically using The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble alongside the Study Guide. If you would like to join in, I am using the Bible Recap reading plan that you can find in the YouVersion Bible App.

The Bible Recap pairs a reading plan with daily podcast episodes that explain and summarize the day’s passages. I love how it makes potentially challenging sections of Scripture more approachable while also highlighting God’s character throughout.

My goal is to carve out time each morning for this reading plan, starting my day with God’s Word before diving into the busyness of life. To keep myself accountable, I’m also starting a small group Bible Study group. Each week I will also be sharing a weekly recap as well as provide ideas for an activity you can do together with your discussion group.

Memorizing Bible Verses

Scripture memorization has been on my heart for a while. There’s something powerful about hiding God’s Word in your heart. In 2025, I plan to memorize 26 Bible verses, focusing on verses that speak to encouragement, promises of God, and identity in Christ. I chose 26 because it’s manageable — one verse every two weeks — and it gives me enough time to meditate on each verse and truly internalize its meaning.

To make this a consistent habit, I’ll use tools like an index card to make a scripture memory journal. Writing the verses down and praying through them will help me retain them better. This is the book with Bible verses that I am hoping to incorporate to help me memorize scripture alongside this Praying the Names of God weekly guide to help grow my prayer life.

Deep Dive Topical Studies.

While reading through the Bible provides a broad overview of God’s story, I’m also carving out time for deep dive studies on specific topics. For me, this means exploring themes or questions that resonate deeply with me and seek to understand the “why” behind what I believe.

Why does God ask us to live a certain way? Why are certain principles foundational to the Christian faith? Diving into these questions helps me build a firm foundation and a more personal understanding of God’s truth.

Topical studies will allow me to focus on areas where I feel God is calling me to grow or understand more deeply. I plan to use resources like Bible dictionaries, concordances, and trusted commentaries to guide these studies. This post walks you through step by step how I do my topical studies.

Couples Devotional Time

My husband has been eager for us to study the books of Daniel and Revelation together, and I couldn’t agree more. These books are filled with prophecy, hope, and insights that speak to the times we’re living in. It feels like no other point in history has made the understanding of these messages more crucial.

We’ve chosen a special resource to guide us: a journal-style book that combines the complete New King James Version text of Daniel and Revelation with study notes from the highly respected Andrews Study Bible. The thoughtful layout — with Scripture on the left, study notes on the right, and plenty of space for personal reflections — makes it perfect for diving deep together.

I’m looking forward to this for so many reasons. First, it’s a chance for us to grow spiritually as a couple, grounding our marriage in God’s Word. We’ve set aside time each week to read and discuss the chapters together, allowing for meaningful conversations about how these prophetic messages apply to our lives and the world today.

Second, I love the balance this study offers between learning and reflecting. My husband and I can not only engage with the text but also share what God is revealing to each of us individually.

Lastly, I see this study as an anchor for us during a time when the world feels increasingly uncertain. The promises in these prophetic books remind us that God is always in control, no matter what.

It’s an invitation to explore God’s Word deeply and intentionally as a couple. I can’t wait to see how this journey enriches our faith and strengthens our bond.

Family Bible Study for Worship Times

This year, our family is hopping on the Bible Food Truck! This devotional takes us on a fun ride through the Bible, exploring stories about food, drink, and fasting — all while learning how God works in every part of our lives.

Each devotion is short and simple, perfect for our busy days, with Scripture, a prayer, and a “Faith To-Go” activity to help us live out what we’ve learned. The best part? We’ll be designing our own food truck as we go, connecting these stories to ways we can serve God and others.

My 2025 Faith Plan

As much as I love a good plan, I also know that life happens. Unexpected challenges, busy seasons, and interruptions are inevitable. That’s why I’m reminding myself to approach this faith plan with flexibility and grace. It’s not about checking boxes or achieving perfection; it’s about growing closer to God and being transformed by His Word.

If I miss a day of Bible reading or fall behind on a memory verse, I won’t beat myself up. Instead, I’ll pray for God’s help to get back on track and keep moving forward. Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey, not a sprint, and God’s mercies are new every morning.

My 2025 faith plan is an intentional roadmap for deepening my relationship with God and growing spiritually as an individual, a wife, and a mother. By reading through the Bible chronologically, memorizing Scripture, diving into topical studies, and creating meaningful family worship times, I’m laying a foundation for a year filled with spiritual growth.

I hope sharing my plan inspires you to think about your own goals for the new year. The most important thing is to start where you are and take small, intentional steps toward knowing God more deeply. I’d love to hear what your faith goals are for 2025 — let’s encourage each other as we pursue God together! What resources are you planning on incorporating in 2025, drop them in the comments below, I would love to check them out.
