Letting Go and Letting God: Trusting God To Handle It
Letting go and letting God, how does one let go and let God? How do you go about giving God control of your life and trust god’s plan?
In the fast-paced and often chaotic journey of life, it’s easy to find ourselves overwhelmed by the constant stream of responsibilities, expectations, and challenges that come our way.
We tirelessly strive to control every aspect of our lives, laboring under the illusion that our grip on the reins will ensure a smooth ride. But what if, just for a moment, we considered the liberating power of loosening our grip and allowing a higher force to take the lead? This is the essence of the age-old adage: “Let go and let God.”
While the concept may seem simple, its application requires a profound shift in perspective and a willingness to release our fears, doubts, and the need for total control. The journey of letting go and letting God invites us to surrender our burdens and embrace a sense of peace, trust, and clarity that can transform how we navigate the intricacies of existence.

Letting Go and Letting God
Here we were as a fun date night activity, talking once again about what we wanted in a home. Large rooms, granite or quartz countertops, we named it all. As we resumed our house hunt the following day, my husband surprised me by showing me a home listing that suddenly popped up on the market.
It met all our requirements of what we wanted in a home and most importantly it was within our price point. We figured there was no way that house could have all the upgraded amenities and still be within our budget.
Although skeptical, we scheduled a viewing. As I got ready, I whispered to God, God I need flashing neon signs here, a final price tag of X amount would certainly do. Upon visiting, the home was definitely all that and more. Without asking, discussions with our realtor spelled out my magic number. Taken a back, I was like, yes God I hear you loud and clear.
We were definitely interested in potentially making an offer but there were just a few details we needed to iron out first before we could take such a step.
On our way back we discussed at length how amazing God was, without even initially asking him, he knew our deepest hearts desires and I thanked him for the neon lights he sent my way.
When we reached home, I noticed I missed a call from our realtor. A return call revealed that another buyer had submitted an offer for the house. If we were interested, we would need to act fast.
We were at a crossroad, here was this home that we loved that we felt sure God was guiding us to, should we make the leap? It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make with not much time.
Should I trust my heavenly father or rely on my own strength and own way? After much discussion we concluded that if this was for us, regardless of the situation, it would be ours. We opted to be still and let it go and let God. We were going to put our faith in Jesus Christ, as such decided not to pursue with an offer.
The following day we were informed that the house was conditionally sold. Want to know how this all unfolds? Continue reading as we dive into letting go and giving it to God.
Let Go And Let God Meaning
Letting go and letting God is all about surrendering your will to God. Giving the holy spirit opportunity to work in our lives even when we don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. In our Christian life, Giving it to God when we have relationship issues, financial troubles, worries about our job or even when we think we know what’s right for us.
While losing this home felt like I got my heart broken all over again. It was a lovely reminder that God knows best and giving it to God means that I am trusting God to work things out with my best interest in mind.
When Daniel and his friends were taken captive in Babylon, they chose to obey God’s commands and not to defile themselves with the food and wine provided to them by the King (Daniel 1). Instead, they adopted a diet of vegetables and water and trusted God to keep them nourished.
Fast Forward a few years later, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, refused to bow down and worship a statue even though this meant they would be thrown into a blazing furnace. God rewarded their faithfulness and not one strand of hair on their heads was scorched by the fire (Daniel 3). Such an amazing testimony that must have been that day to onlookers. Would you have been willing to stand firm in faith in a similar situation?
Daniel and his friends didn’t just wake up one morning and instantly gave their worries to God. Over the years they groomed their relationship with God by spending time in god’s word. They saw god’s hands first hand in their lives in big and small things so they knew ultimately they could trust him and that he had their best interest at heart. God can give you peace and do the same for you too!
How to Let Go and Let God
If you are wondering how to let go and let God and push those negative thoughts aside, this section is for you. We will explore some practical ways you can give it all to God.
Let Go and Let God By Praying
So, how does one really let go and let God?
When it comes to giving it to God, I think the most important thing you can do, is just to pray and not rely on your own understanding. You don’t have to go through your struggles and difficult time alone, let God handle it.
Even Jesus prayed to the father for strength when he saw the hurdle and hard times he was about to face. In Luke 22:41-44, we see Jesus in deep agony, he even prayed to the father to take away his suffering if it was his will. In his time of agony an Angel was sent from heaven to strengthen him.
Talk to God, tell him your worries or your struggles and ask him to help you through it. It wasn’t until I prayed that I started to feel at peace with the idea that the house I thought was for me, turned out not to be what God had in mind for us at that time.
It wasn’t an instant fix, but it got better day by day until I finally felt at peace. Here is a powerful prayer for letting go and letting God.

Songs have such an amazing ability to change your mood. Songs can help uplift you and offer encouragement that you are not alone. Find songs that can help remind you that you are not alone and that Jesus will be with you through the storm.
One such Christian music that comes to mind is, “What a friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear And what a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer”. Letting Go and Letting God
After several attempts of trying to find another home we liked and having another hiccup with another house we fell in love with, we decided to put our house hunting on pause. That very evening our first love popped back up on the market. I am happy to say God worked things out for us and we are now first time home owners.
