The Bible I’m Using – You can opt to use a chronological Bible, but am opting to use my regular Bible and following The Bible Recap Reading Plan in the YouVersion Bible App.
Bible Study Journal – I am using blank printing paper to write my notes on which I will then add to a binder. You can also find some cute Journals at Dollarama for a reasonable price if you prefer a journal.
Tips to Start Strong and Stay Consistent
Building a daily Bible habit takes intention, but it’s absolutely doable. Here are some tried-and-true tips to set yourself up for success:
- Define Your “Why”: Ask yourself, why do you want to read the Bible this year? Maybe it’s to grow closer to God, find answers to life’s questions, or simply to finish something you’ve started before. Writing down your “why” can keep you motivated on tough days.
- Create a Routine: Pair your reading with an existing habit, like having your morning coffee or winding down before bed. Small, consistent steps lead to big results.
- Use the Right Tools: Beyond the Bible and The Bible Recap podcast, consider a journal for jotting down insights, questions, or prayers. A highlighter or sticky tabs can also help you mark passages that stand out.
- Plan for Setbacks: Life happens. If you fall behind, don’t give up. Instead of trying to catch up all at once, just pick up where you left off. The goal is progress, not perfection.
- Pray Before You Read: Invite God to speak to you through His Word. A simple prayer like, “Lord, open my eyes to see wonderful things in Your Word” (Psalm 119:18) can prepare your heart.
Deepen Your Understanding with Reflection
Reflection isn’t just for journaling; it’s the bridge between reading and transformation. Here’s how you can make the most of your daily reading:
- Ask Key Questions: After reading, pause and ask: What does this reveal about God? How does this point to Jesus? What’s one thing I’m being invited to apply in my life?
- Notice Patterns: Over time, you’ll start seeing recurring themes, like God’s faithfulness, justice, or mercy. Write these down to track your discoveries.
- Discuss with Others: Sharing your insights with a friend or group can solidify what you’ve learned and even offer new perspectives you hadn’t considered.

Week 2
This week, we dive into Job 17–39, where Job grapples with suffering and seeks answers from God. His story challenges us to trust in God’s justice, wisdom, and sovereignty, even when life doesn’t make sense. As we reflect on these powerful chapters, we’ll be reminded of God’s greatness and His presence in our struggles.
Reflection Questions & Activity
Air Clay Pottery Kit – For this week’s date night, create pottery together as a tangible reminder of God’s creativity and His purpose in every detail of our lives. As you mold the clay, discuss how God is molding your lives and purposes, even during challenging seasons.
Just as pottery takes patience and shaping, so does our walk with God. This activity reminds us of His care and design, even when we don’t see the final product yet.
Week 3
This week, we journey through Job 40–42 and Genesis 12–29, exploring themes of faith, restoration, and God’s unwavering promises. From Job’s restoration to Abraham’s faith journey, the readings challenge us to trust God’s plan, even when it’s not fully clear. Let this week inspire you to walk by faith and embrace God’s purpose for your life.
Reflection Questions & Activity
Vision Board Kit – For this weeks date night activity, you will be creating a vision board. Gather supplies like magazines, scissors, glue, and poster boards or corkboards.
Together with your partner or small group, create a vision board that reflects your dreams, and goals. Include visuals and words that represent the promises of God, your personal aspirations, and ways you want to grow spiritually.
Reflect on how God’s plans are greater than our own and how trusting Him can shape our vision for the future. Use this as a reminder to trust God with your dreams and challenges.
Conversation Starters:
- What promises of God are you holding onto right now?
- How has God restored or guided you in ways you didn’t expect?
- What steps can we take to align our dreams with God’s purpose?
Once your vision boards are complete, pray over them, asking God to lead and guide your journey.
